Where Can I Enter the St Judes Dream Home Giveaway?

St. Jude Children's hospital is a charity organization that provides for children with cancer. They're also one of the leading research facilities globally, developing groundbreaking solutions to improve if not alleviate childhood cancer.

Who Benefits From This giveaway?

The revenues from the tickets will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is radically changing the way the world views, manages, and prevents childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. St. Jude never bills families for treatment, travel, lodging, or food because the only thing a family should be concerned about is helping their child live.

Since the hospital's inception more than 50 years ago, the unique treatments researched and developed have drastically improved children's cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%!

Who are the Event Organizers?

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded in 1962, is a pediatric care and research institution focusing on catastrophic diseases affecting children, notably leukemia and other malignancies. The hospital runs at the cost of roughly $2.8 million per day, yet patients are not paid for their care. It is a nonprofit medical corporation based in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Internal Revenue Service has tabbed it under 501(c)(3) tax exemption. St. Jude treats newborns, adolescents, teenagers, and young people up to 21, and in some instances, up to the age of 25.

Dr. Donald Mack, a St. Jude pioneer, founded the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, which has raised more than $315 million nationwide to date. The concept is simple: construct a house as cheaply as possible, sell $100 raffle tickets to the general public, and then give the place away! The earnings are all donated to the fight to eliminate pediatric cancer, and the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is one of the most successful fundraising initiatives for the cause.

Do I Have to Pay Taxes if I Win?

According to the IRS, the $100 ticket fee is not deductible as a charitable contribution for Federal income tax reasons. The IRS mandates that taxes on prizes worth more than $5,000 be paid at the time of acceptance and before St. Jude may deliver the reward to the winner. Winners are urged to seek the advice of a tax specialist. The winner is responsible for paying the property taxes. The IRS compels ALSAC/St. Jude to collect taxes before property transfers. Winners will get 1099s for the fair market or appraised worth of their prizes. Specifics should be discussed with the winners' CPA.
